The following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) provide detailed guidance for World Volleyball Day (WVD). This document is designed to answer common questions from participants, hosts, sponsors, and the public. World Volleyball Day is committed to transparency, simplicity, and compliance with international best practices.
World Volleyball Day is a global celebration held every year on July 7. On this day, individuals and communities worldwide play volleyball to unite against bullying. The event supports Block the Bully, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ending bullying. The initiative also seeks to set a world record for the most people playing volleyball on a single day.
Anyone, anywhere in the world. There are no age restrictions. All skill levels and all formats of volleyball are welcome.
Any recognizable volleyball activity on July 7 counts, including but not limited to:
Short version: If you pick up a volleyball and play in any way on July 7, it counts.
For players, host can make it free or charge a fee.
Donations to Block the Bully are encouraged but not required.
To be counted, participants must upload a photo on July 7, 2026, using the official website. Individuals, coaches, and hosts may upload group or individual photos. Each submission must include:
• A photo
• Number of people in the photo
The number of people reported and the AI count will be compared, and the lower number (if different) will be used. Duplicate photos will be removed.
Will videos be accepted?
No. Only photos will be accepted.
Can people without internet access still participate?
Players will need access to the internet on July 7 to upload their photo and be counted. Events without internet access must still submit photos online the same day in order to be verified.v

Anyone can host: schools, clubs, churches, gyms, parks, backyards, or community centers. Hosts have complete control over their event. For example, a host may elect to hold a tournament similar to events they’ve organized in the past. Hosts may choose whether to charge or not charge for participation. Hosts are encouraged to promote their events, organize activities, and inspire their communities.
An “Official Host” badge is available for download and can be shared on websites and social media.
Note: Photos and headcounts MUST be uploaded on July 7, 2026, to be counted.
Photos are used only for verification purposes and will not be shared publicly without consent. All data will be handled in compliance with international privacy laws (including GDPR and similar frameworks).
Participation is voluntary and undertaken at each individual’s own risk. World Volleyball Day and Block the Bully are not liable for injuries or accidents. Hosts and participants are expected to follow local safety regulations.
Fundraising is optional though any Block the Bully fundraiser any time is greatly appreciated. Donations are collected through the official World Volleyball Day GoFundMe page. All proceeds directly support Block the Bully’s mission and are 100% tax-deductible as allowed by the law. Funds will be used to expand outreach, support anti-bullying education, and sustain World Volleyball Day.
The primary channel for communication with the public is the official World Volleyball Day Instagram account. Updates, highlights, and announcements will be shared regularly. Certificates of participation, digital badges, and selected event highlights will also be issued.
Our short-term goal is to engage 1 million players on July 7, 2026. Our long-term goal is to reach 10 million players worldwide by July 7, 2036.
